"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel." —Maya Angelou

Susan grew up in Tacoma, Washington but spent her school years in Boise until going to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Her experience in starting, running and eventually selling a family business in construction and real estate development, as well as consulting for numerous start-ups, has given her broad experience with various cultures and work models. She has created and executed leadership programs, vulnerability and trust interactive trainings and customized skill-based learning workshops. She gets immense satisfaction out of watching the teams that make up a company succeed. The consistent thread through out her life has been her ability to hear what is not said.

  • Inspiration

My Mom. She loved relentlessly with no boundaries and was able to see the beauty in absolutely EVERYONE. Even though she’s been gone two years, I still encounter people weekly who tell me the tremendous impact she had on their lives simply by her way of acknowledging their importance. In crisis, joy and uncertainty, hers is the voice I hear in my head. To be a sliver of the light she embodied is a lofty goal and one I continually aspire to.
  • Best Reads

Current fave, Anything You Want by Derek Sivers. Fantastic, quick, dense read about whether unnecessary complexity is creeping into your business/life with these gems: “Anything you hate to do, someone else loves it. Find that person and let them do it." and "A quick glance and common sense should tell you if the numbers will work. The rest are details." Simplify. Simplify. Simplify.
  • Superheros

There are far too many super heros in real life. Our world is full of people who do the amazing, make the hard choices and CHOOSE to craft an extraordinary life with less than extraordinary circumstances. Apologies to my son who is a comic book authority.
  • #1 Travel Destination

Italy for exploring the history, architecture and art. Mexico or Dominican Republic as long as it’s an authentic local spot and off the beaten path.
  • As a Castaway...

My family; without them I couldn't construct the Swiss Family Robinson extravaganza of a tree house I have always wanted.
