  • As a Castaway...

I would want my husband; he would be the only way I could survive. He's the one who would figure out how to make a shelter and keep us fed. And he would offer great companionship! I’d also want deck of cards; I love games and I love to play, entertaining myself and others. I’d also like a case of high-end red wine. I love red wine, and seriously, if you are stranded on an island, you might as well be drinking.
  • Best Reads

My favorite book from my 40s is Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown. I absolutely loved this book and it changed my way of thinking. I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist, but this book gave me the courage to just show up! Have people over even if your house isn’t spotless. Go try that thing you are going to suck at. Be imperfect and love yourself. Love the journey and take time to see those around you.
  • Superhero

I believe in the everyday heroes of our life. The grandparent who takes the time to listen to a child, have a tea party and play a game. The single parent who is doing their best to be at every activity and support their family. The friend who celebrates your successes and loves you through your failures. The business owner who worries nonstop about taking care of each employee. The neighbor who invites you over for dinner because you are lonely. The coworker who notices you are having a bad day and helps offload some of the work. These are everyday heroes in our life who go unnoticed. Take the time to celebrate and thank them! And make the time to spend time with those who care.
